Since all of my family is spending their holidays in our second home, the
Villa Berghese somewhere at the coast between
Rome and
Naples, except me, I thought I could at least post a review on a dive site at one of the most spectacular coast lines of the world. The
Costaria Amalfitana.
If you take the small path to the right at the beach in Positano, you'll get to the secluded village
Fornillo with Aldo and his
NASE Diving Center Positano offering dive trips as far as the marine reserve
Punta Campanella, with it's archeologic underwater sites (mostly off limits).
Visibility in general is good throughout the year and there is a nice range of fish, but don't expect to see any big ones. If you get a chance, try to arrange a dive at one of the grottos further to the west.
In contrast to
Positano, this place is rather laid back and so is diving with Aldo who is bit like Enzo Molinari from the movie
The Big Blue. And guess what? After climbing up the numerous stairs from
Fornillo to the only road circling the
Sorrento Peninsula, you can even watch him driving off in his proper styled
Fiat 500.
